Following Duarte’s Strong Primary Win, CA-13 Moved to “Toss-Up” by Cook Political Report
Valley Voters Ready to ‘Send a Farmer to Congress’
Following farmer and businessman John Duarte’s win in the June Primary Election, The Cook Political Report has moved California’s 13th Congressional District from “Lean Democrat” to “Toss Up” on its House Ratings Forecast.
“All of the momentum is behind our campaign and this rating change is evidence of exactly that,” said Valley farmer and businessman John Duarte. “Hardworking Valley families are feeling the heat of skyrocketing gas prices, unaffordable groceries, and rising housing prices this summer. As your next Congressman, I will bring our fight to lower the Valley’s cost of living to Washington D.C.”
In a contested June primary, Duarte finished first - capturing over 34% of the vote. The Republican share of the primary vote was over 51%, indicating a close election in November.
“It’s time for a change in leadership,” said Duarte. “We have gas nearing $7 a gallon, farms and communities without water, and crime making it too dangerous for our children to play at the park. Our Valley doesn’t need another career politician bought and paid for by special interests. Our Valley is ready to send a farmer to Congress.”
