MAJORITY LATINO CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT IN LIBERAL CALIFORNIA GOES REPUBLICAN
Democrats have a 14 point registration advantage in district but that is not how it is voting
(Merced, CA) — The past couple of weeks have seen Latino-dominated districts voting Republican for the first time in decades. This time it happened again in a former stronghold for liberal Democrats.
Joining the list of Latino-dominated districts trending Republican in 2022 is California’s Central Valley Congressional District 13.
In the recent open primary election, lifelong Valley farmer and businessman John Duarte easily advanced to the General Election far outperforming all of his opponents, including his now Democratic opponent by more than 3 points. More importantly, while the Democrats have a 14 point registration advantage in the district (42.9% -D to 28.5%-R) the combined Republican vote received 2,500 more votes than the combined Democrat vote.
“I am extremely pleased with our election results. The community is supportive of my campaign and message because I am running to fight for the working families of our Valley,” said Duarte. “Families and farmers up and down our Valley are fed up with the radical Biden-Pelosi agenda which my opponent Adam Gray supports.”
California has an open primary where all voters can choose their preferred candidate, regardless of party affiliation. In this election, Republicans received 2,500 more votes than Democrats even though Democrats hold a 14 point registration advantage.
“Regardless of what the registration looks like on paper, this district is going to be voting for Republican John Duarte in November,” said Duarte Campaign Consultant Duane Dichiara. “This nationwide trend is a continued blow to the Democratic majorities that have proven themselves completely unaware of what families are going through.”
California Congressional District 13 voted in favor of the Gavin Newsom Recall, showing a trend that Valley voters are fed up with the out of touch liberal establishment.
“Liberal politicians are completely out of touch with working families and what they are dealing with. We are taking our campaign to every corner and to every voter in this district,” said Duarte. “Voters are ready to send a farmer to Congress.”
