JOHN DUARTE LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR 13th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
Valley Leader and Republican Farmer Launches Campaign
(Modesto, CA) - Today, farmer and Republican businessman John Duarte announced the launch of his campaign for California’s 13th Congressional District. Duarte's launch comes fresh off the heels of an endorsement from the Stanislaus County Republican Party.
“I love my state and I love my country, but everyday people keep falling further and further behind,” said Duarte. “Hard-working people are choosing between tanks of gas and what they’re eating for dinner. Farmers are wondering if they have enough water every single year. Parents are sending their kids to schools, knowing that their children should have better alternatives. It's time to get back to basics. Today, I announce my campaign for California’s 13th Congressional District. As your next Congressman, I know that my job is simple. Give everyday Americans more opportunity to succeed, while keeping our communities safe and secure.”
John has been active in the issues that impact lives in the Valley. He led the fight to prevent the sale of local water supplies to San Francisco. He worked to remove and reduce unfair taxes on farmers that make groceries more expensive. John is a national advocate for property rights. He strongly supports our law enforcement, military, 2nd Amendment, school choice, and increasing water storage. He opposes any new taxes, critical race theory in our schools, and reckless spending.
John was born in Modesto and lives on an almond farm there with Alexandra, his wife of 26 years. They raised their four children there and sent them to local public schools. John co-founded Duarte Nursery with his family in 1989. After 30 years of hard work, his business has over 1,000 employees and serves nearly 3,000 agricultural customers every year. John graduated from San Diego State University with a finance degree and has an MBA from the University of the Pacific, Stockton. He is an alumnus of the California Agricultural Leadership Program and has served on the boards of the California Association of Winegrape Growers and the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau.
The 13th Congressional District takes in 5 major agricultural counties: Merced County makes up 38%, Stanislaus 30%, Madera 15%, Fresno 11%, and San Joaquin 6%. These counties are at the heart of California’s water emergency and combine for over $10 billion in agricultural output. Additionally, the district is overwhelmingly working class and its constituents are impacted by the high cost of food, fuel, and lack of housing. The 13th Congressional District is rated D+4 by Cook’s Political Report. In an election cycle with Republicans expected to make historic gains, this race will be one to watch.
