About John

John Duarte for Congress

John is a 4th generation farmer in Stanislaus County. John is a ‘back to basics’ no-nonsense conservative. He is not a politician – he has real-life experience building a business and raising a family. John has seen the nonsense coming out of Washington for the past few years and decided he needed to stop complaining and become part of the solution.

We’ve all seen Washington’s failures. No plan to evacuate our men and women from Afghanistan. No secure border and no real immigration policy. Unfair taxes that punish the middle class and small business owners. Growing crime and a failure to maintain law and order in our cities. Out-of-control spending is causing everything from groceries to gas to get more expensive. Head-shaking water policies are killing our local farms and the jobs they provide. The list goes on and on….

As your next Congressman, John thinks his job is actually pretty simple: help give everyday Americans more opportunity to succeed while keeping us safe and secure. If we just start with those simple goals and get them done properly, we can discuss other things that we might want to do next. In practice this means having a military strong enough to protect us, securing the border, standing up to the ‘Defund the Police’ movement, reducing inflation by stopping the spending binge which is going to bankrupt the next generation, and securing enough water storage to get our farms up and growing again.

Further, we need to teach our students that the USA is a great country, with an amazing history of progress that has given more freedom and more liberty to more people than any other nation in the history of the world. John strongly opposes Critical Race Theory and other anti-American teachings in our K-12 schools and colleges.

John was born in Modesto and lives there on an almond farm with Alexandra, his wife of 26 years. They raised their four children there and sent them to local public schools. John co-founded Duarte Nursery with his family in 1989. John’s first office was a kitchen table, and he’ll tell you he learned the hard way, with lots of sleepless nights, how to build and grow a business. After 30 years of hard work his business has over 1,000 employees and serves nearly 3,000 agricultural customers every year.

John has been active in the issues that impact our lives here in the Valley. He led the fight to prevent the sale of our local water supply to San Francisco. John worked to remove unfair taxes on farmers that make groceries more and more expensive every time we go to the grocery store. John has been a national advocate for property rights. He strongly supports our 2nd Amendment rights.

John graduated from San Diego State with a finance degree and has an MBA from the University of the Pacific, Stockton. He is an alumnus of the California Agricultural Leadership Program and has served on the boards of the California Association of Winegrape Growers and the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau.
